Helpful Resources

Every September, organizations and communities across the country come together to focus on suicide prevention and mental-health awareness. This month is dedicated to starting conversations, reducing stigma, and encouraging connection. By sharing facts and helpful reminders, we can create safe spaces for people to talk openly and find support before a crisis occurs.
Suicide Prevention Awareness Month is also a time to learn and share resources, recognize warning signs, and encourage compassion in workplaces, schools, and neighborhoods. Small, everyday acts of care—listening without judgment, checking in on friends, and promoting self-care—help build stronger, more resilient communities.
Helpful Hints to Support Awareness

-
Stay Connected: Regular check-ins with friends, family, or coworkers can help everyone feel less isolated.
-
Encourage Conversation: A simple “How are you really doing?” can open the door to meaningful dialogue.
-
Share Resources: Post helpline numbers or mental-health resource links where people can easily see them.
-
Promote Self-Care: Remind others to take breaks, get adequate rest, and spend time on activities that bring calm.
-
Know Emergency Contacts: Keep crisis helplines and local emergency numbers saved and visible.

If you or someone you know is in immediate crisis, call or text 988 (U.S.) for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, or use local emergency services
